THE COLLABORATION WITH OMAN

 

The Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade (AOB) has recently signed an agreement with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) from Oman. The  agreement envisages partnership and multidisciplinary collaboration between scientists from both institutions. Initiatives proposed to be of mutual benefit include development of software tools for real-time photometric analysis of astronomical objects and development of class and lab material for undergraduate training in observational astronomy, image processing and data analysis techniques.

Greek astronomer, Dr. Zach Ioannou, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at SQU, who collaborated with the researchers from the AOB within the BELISSIMA project  initiated this partnership  together with Dr. Milan Bogosavljević, Research Associate and Manager of the Vidojevica Astronomical Station, participant of BELISSIMA, prepared the document related to  this international partnership.

The information about this collaboration has recently been published by Times of Oman, the oldest and the leading English daily newspaper in Oman. The text is available here.
